Never done that, and never felt the need to. Whites come out of
the fridge. I have a thermometer both in my cellar and in the
dining room. When I need to cool whites fast, I let them in
running cold water in the basin in the bathroom. We are fortunate
enough, here in Vienna, to have tap water that is around 8°C
(46°F) in winter and 10°C (50°F) in summer.
