I feel the same way after Rice-A Roni (The San Francisco Treat)
discontinued their rice mixes right when I moved to The San
Francisco Bay Area from Pennsylvania in <ahem> 1983. All they had in
San Francisco were the Rice-A-Roni noodle shit and MJB was the
premier boxed rice mix. Not the same.

But Knoor/Unilever is HUGE. They're the top 2 processed food
purveyors in the world, along with Heinz/Kraft (followed by Nestle).
And if you talk shit about them here they will hunt you down and
grind you up into a boxed soup mix. Just sayin...

I bought a box of Lipton Beefy Onion Soup mix for my post roast
tomorrow (Jill made me do it). Heat wave coming in predicted to be
30F with possible snow so that's what I'm making.
