Boiled linseed oil uses cobalt (which is a lousy drier) because the
alternatives are either lead, or a mixture or lead and manganese
compounds. The cobalt is there for "safety" !

I can't imagine eating anything made from linseed oil. The stuff is
horrible, even when freshly pressed. The seeds alone aren't too bad,
but concentrated into the oil their taste is just overpowering.
