In 2017, my b-i-l and I went on a cycling holiday along the Canal du Midi
in southern France. We saw the devastation wreaked by a fungus on the Plane
trees that line the banks that is thought to have been introduced from
wooden pallets originating in the USA. They cut down the infected trees and
burn them nearby.
