What can I say? In the 1970's some grocery stores stayed open until 3PM
on holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thanksgiving has never
been on a Sunday so that's a moot point. They stayed open until 3PM so
people could pick up last minute things for their holiday meals. I
don't remember exactly what time we went to pick up this dinner but it
was certainly too late to thaw a turkey and all the sides and have it
the same day. That night we ate steaks.
