Aspartame does a good job in diet soda, but for most uses, I prefer sucralose. I recently came close to running out of the packet of pure sucralose that I bought 7-8 years ago, and I bought another that should last into my retirement. Don't buy Nutrasweet or Splenda. Sure, it's much easier to measure, but the pure stuff is super cheap, like $20 for several year's worth.
