That's good advice - for starters. Don't trust rich and powerful businessmen/politicians either. They're always expect you to do stuff for them. I suppose, if you know how the game is played, you'd expect that they'll do stuff for you too. Of course, that's not an option if you're an ethical and honest businessman.
