The problem with california basmati is that it's not basmati, it's a
hybrid called texmati - originally bred to thrive in texas, thus the name.
Frankly thai jasmine rice is closer to basmati than texmati is, imho.
On the other hand, I would be skeptical of 'organic' labeling on any
agricultural product from india.
