I can relate.

Never seen a wild turkey, but my buddy sed they had
"invaded" his CA neighborhood, prior to his egress to Kansas.

I'd been to his house dozens of times. Typical CA suburban
neighborhood (from 60's) w/ sidewalks, CA ranch-style housing, and all
that.

I was shocked when he told me (from KS) that wild turkey's had taken
over his neighborhood. He would see 'em coming down the street (via
"sidewalks") when he walked his dog!

Can you shoot 'em? Much like the "wild pig", problem, no. CA is
weird, like that.
