Pyrex disaster!

Many years ago I was told that pyrex beakers and other labware should be
disposed of when they get a lot of scratches or surface
abrasion. Supposedly it weakened them and made them prone to shattering
or cracking.
I wonder if this could be what happened with this old pyrex?

Sheila did explain that the Pyrex in USA is different to that in UK.,
although I would never put any Pyrex which is very cold directly into heat
anyway.
