Well, now! That it did! My 39 cents worth of arrowroot powder did the
job perfectly. Beck's MIL had never heard of it -- I made this year's
gravy for a change (without a tablespoon of black pepper, thank you).
Y'all were right about the shine and the consistency when cold (and I'd
never doubted it). I'm thinking I'm a convert to the Holy Order of the
Sisters of Saint Arrowroot.
