Same experience here many years ago. In-laws came for a week
visit and brought some eggs from their happy free range stupid
chickens. They had been feeding them fish meal too.

Next morning, I was served two of those eggs over easy and
everyone stood by to see my opinion. They were expecting...."OH
MAN...the best eggs ever."

Not so, I took one bite and literally ran to the sink and spit it
out. That egg tasted just like fish and freaked me out. It was
way beyond nasty tasting. Well, inlaws were offended but I told
them, "sorry but I won't eat that." Even the wife glared at me
for offending her parents. oh well. hahaha
