I used to help my mom make that fruitcake every year. It was the only
mother/son project that we did together. Therein lies its importance to me.
Had she lived longer, I'm sure I we would have baked those things with her
as an adult. It would be my fondest wish to do it again just one more time.
I had a slice yesterday and realized for the first time that it tasted
great. Oy vey!
