It's not a horrible predicament. I have two lines coming into the house,
one from the well and one from the cistern. When the well runs low I
switch over to the cistern. When the cistern gets low and there is no
rain in the forecast I call the water trucking business. Living only two
miles from the pumping station I can have a load of water delivered
withing 24 hours. I only needed to buy one load (2500 gal) last year.
That cost me $80, so that was my water bill for the year.
