My current will leaves everything to my wife. I should update it one of
these days and so that it will go to her and should predecease our son
then everything will go to him. If they are both gone, then the estate
will be shared by my younger brother and some of my nieces and nephews.
I believe that you have to be fair with your children, but you can show
favourtism to nieces and nephews. Some have been closer to me than the
others.
FWIW, my oldest brother was upset that my father did not leave
everything to him..... he being the oldest. My other brothers and I
were a little ****ed at his reaction. Our mother was still alive. As far
as the other two and I were concerned, he should have left everything to
our mother. For us, that was a given.
