I can't say. Probably they saw one of those Corvettes when they were kids and it mesmerized them. Younger guys imprinted on other desirable cars - mostly foreign ones.

Corvette guys are pretty much hooked on the historical format of this car. This includes the fiberglass body, a push-rod V8, and a monosprung rear suspension. The rear suspension uses same spring system that was used on the Ford Model T - a transverse leaf spring. Whoa Nellie!
