Confusing to you, perhaps. You suffer from tunnel vision as badly as
any "old folks that live at the enclave".
I googled "Hawaii hotel menu 1950s", and it was every bit as bland as
the menu currently under discussion. Those dishes were very common
in hotel cuisine throughout the U.S. at that time.
