There are different kinds of plastics. My city is now participating
in a plastic recycling program with Reynolds. The particular plastic
recycled will be turned into fuel. Our plastic involves things like
candy wrappers, grocery bags, cat/dog food bags, straws, egg cartons,
all the kinds of plastic involved around food that haven't been
recycled before.
OTOH, how does your refusal to participate in recycling address the
gyre at all? It doesn't . Your approach is just lazy and not
participating in being a decent citizen.
Humph!!
