As recently as the 1970's getting pregnant while still in high school
was shameful. At least two girls I was acquainted with "went to live
with their aunt" (uh huh). I only knew one girl who got pregnant who
stayed in school. She was noticeably pregnant at graduation. The
low-life dropout she was madly in love with didn't stick by her but
another of our classmates did. I ran into them a few years later;
they'd gotten married and he was willingly raising the other guy's child.
