No, the home version Ed (poorly) described is not at all like the
pre-rinse faucet you're vaguely referring to. For one thing a pre-rinse
faucet hose is not retractable, for another there's a lever where you
hold it, just like a garden hose nozzle, that turns the water on and
off. There's a separate spout for non-spraying water. The pre-rinse
faucet produces much higher pressure than the home version. Here's a

Thanks for that. I have looked around since this thread started and I have
seen a lot of different ones which do a similar job. I don't have one and I
hadn't really been interested in looking at them. Maybe next time
