deep-fried in batter, of course, are very common in Italy:
-zucchini
-zucchini's flowers (my favourite!)
-eggplants
-cauliflowers
-onions (less common)
and so on...
ps: have you ever tasted "olive all'ascolana" (fried olives filled
with minced meat)?
