That's a long time to be friends and then watch it all go poof.

Have you thought about emailing him and seeing if he's up for a revival?

Some times it's worth taking a chance and making the first move, nothing
ventured nothing gained.

Maybe he's just embarrassed he went off on you and would welcome an
olive branch...
