Heck, I have gotten contact burns when using oven mitts to take
something out of the oven. Been burned by steam, too. The reason I
don't fry chicken anymore is because I got splattered in the 1980's when
the pop of the chicken in the oil fused my silk blouse to my chest.
OUCH! Blistered! Nope, I don't deep fry chicken anymore.

Anyone who cooks anything has gotten burned or cut at some point.

Sheldon is just being... Sheldon.
