Congratulations to your GS! I like texting for that very reason.
Nobody is bothered with a phone call, but it's right there when you
look at your phone. I don't read email, so texting is the way I
communicate with my children & now grandchildren. Nothing long
winded, just a picture and a sentence or two. If I want to say more,
there's always Google Hangouts.

Agree, but there's also no reason to pretend that those who use cell
phones exclusively have some sort of a problem - which is what's being
clearly implied by their tone.
