Why don't you buy some baskets to use in the freezer? That way small
stuff won't fall out and you can remove them to search for whatever it
is you're looking for.

My DD's house came with a side by side and they hated it. Got rid of
it as soon as they could. They have a French door model with a
freezer drawer now and it works for them.
