Took a drive in the "country" (so to speak) to buy some fresh
vegetables. I'm fortunate there are several farm stands near where I
live. Oddly enough two of them were closed today. The farmer is nearly
always there on Friday & Saturday. Hmmmm.
So I turned around and drove in the other direction. Barefoot Farms was
closed today, too. So I drove further down the road and found a
vegetable market that was open.
I bought a couple of butternut squash, half a dozen new potatoes,
broccoli, a nice looking cabbage and a bundle of asparagus. I haven't
had fresh asparagus in a while, I'm looking forward to it!
Total cost: $10
This place also sells fresh eggs, all sorts of greens (didn't need any
spinach and never really acquired a taste for kale). Also Hmmmm,
home-canned (mason jars) of Dilly Beans. I saw those mentioned in a
recent thread about mint in winter. I didn't buy any, just made a
mental note.
