My wife and I have been known to ask a waiter to bring an extra spoon
when one has a dessert and the other would like just a bite. A few times
they brought out an extra when not asked. It never happened when there
was more than just the two of us.

When my wife and I go out we often share our orders with each other. I
am not more inclined to share my dessert with everyone else in a party
than I am to share my appetizers or entrees. If they are good enough
that I others would like them, then they are good enough for me to enjoy
on my own. I can tell them how good it is and they can order it for
themselves.
