My gas stove also has a drawer underneath. Like itsjoan, mine is the
broiler. You don't want to store things down there.

The very few times I've needed to warm plates, and more often bowls, I
just get the hot water going then stack them in a clean sink soaking
in hot water. Takes like 30 seconds to dry off 4 plates or bowls right
before serving.

On the opposite side - whenever I want to eat cereal, I like it to
stay very cold. I'll put the bowl and also the cereal itself in the
fridge or freezer.
