I suppose it varies from state to state. I'm not a "senior" by most US
government standards. Yet my South Carolina drivers license (issued in
2010) doesn't expire until 2020.
And yes, they want you to get a new picture. When I lived in Tennessee
I could renew online... but at some point they definitely would have
said nope, you need to come in. Unless you're dead, your appearance
tends to change as you get older.
