I've had several computer failures over the years, but I can recover
data from a hard drive even if the computer itself has failed. In all
these years I've only had one occasion where I wasn't able to recover
the hard drive and had to hire a data restoration company to restore it
for me. Very expensive. I've learned my lesson and do backups once a
month so I might lose some things, but not everything. Also have a
firesafe now to keep the backup and other important stuff in and it only
set me back about $100, maybe a bit more. Well worth it because I've
been worried about that stuff for years. Like the only pictures I have
of my son, many which can't be reproduced.
