Most people are not allergic to cats... most people I know have cats,
most have several. And I've discovered that some have the Julie Bove
syndrome with cats, when they don't like something they claim an
allergy. I like dogs, I've had dogs, but I don't like their high
maintainence. A fifty pound dog is like feeding two teenage boys, but
even the cost wouldn't bother me, it's having to walk dogs I don't
want to do. I can leave my cats home alone for a day, two days, even
a week and when I come home everything would be the same as I left
it... all I'd need do is put out a couple of extra litter pans, set
out a couple more gravity dispensing dried food feeders, and put out a
few more large water bowls... they wouldn't even miss me, they have
each other for company and mostly they sleep. Leave one dog home for
just 24 hours it'd be best to pay the local realtor a visit before
going home, to buy a new house. People are alway sasking me why I
don't have dogs. they say with all the space here I could leave them
outside, WRONG! A dog wouldn't last 12 hours outside here, I never
see a stray dog, they quickly become preditor dinner. However the
feral cats do fine outdoors... and right now they are eating
practically no cat food, they are fattening up for winter by hunting,
they much prefer the live food and there's plenty here... I've been
finding lots of squirrel and chipmonk feet on my deck each morning,
they eat all but the feet. Like I said, I like dogs but I really
wouldn't have the time to allocate caring for a dog.
