I look this up and it's all very convoluted. Apparently some states do
require you to declare online purchases. I remember the last time I had to
file NY taxes for my husband, it required me to put down all that he bought
online. I highly doubt that he bought anything online. I did send him some
things during hurricane Sandy such as food, blankets, batteries and a
flashlight. They had a power outage and he had no way of getting these
things locally. But since I was living here, I didn't declare them.
Apparently CA requires to to declare this too. Not all states do. The item
I bought sells for about $13.00 and I have probably bought it 5 or 6 times
over the course of a couple of years. Pretty sure I have paid tax on
everything else I have bought from them except for food and that is not
taxable here.
