I enjoy Smoked Kipper snacks right out of the can followed by the mustard on saltines but the best I can recall from years ago was a smoked herring called a Blind Robin. It would clear the room but it was good stuff. I never saw it in a store, only in a tavern next to the pack of Joe's Cheese and crackers which of course was right next to the big jar of pickled eggs. Good times.
