58,000 or about 1% of the population speak Gaelic (almost the same
number as those who speak Polish). However there are Gaelic medium
schools, Gaelic TV, and where I live all location signs (and aisle
signage in the supermarket) are in Gaelic first English second.
Nobody speaks Pictish any more (Scotland's other celtic language)
