I did the same when I left home went to university and lived in
various student flats.
I only threw out my ss cheesegrater two years ago when it got too
blunt.The Viners SS cutlery I saved cornflake tokens for, is still in
daily use here; and so is the whole-months-pay-mad-extravagance
traditionally woven Welsh blanket which I still love as much as the day
I first saw it in about 1967 ( both are now collectors items).
