Personally, I think the Italian sausage would be a bit much for this.
You already have a rich, creamy, pumpkin sauce not to mention the
cheese. I'd serve a lightly dressed green salad, and some crusty
bread. If you really feel you need some meat, how about some curls of
prosciutto on the salad, or alongside the bread.
