We have had a Lello electric for about five years, and love it. I bought a Ben and Jerry's recipe book, and we've made most of the recipes in there. My favorite is a no-cook vanilla.
But even though it is self-cooling, it still pays to pre-freeze the metal bucket (I have two, so I can make two flavors back-to-back). And unless you like your ice cream very soft, you still should freeze the result for at least 2-3 hours before serving.
