I think your post is a good reason to really think about how you use
both the fridge and the freezer to determine what is right just for you.
What is right and works for you isn't always the same as the other guy.
Create a matrix, Excel works well for that. Column headers could be
the different types of units, row headers are what your needs/desires
are, and you just put X's in the cells where that unit meets the needs
of each row.
