Just took another look. For $500 you get a ONE year warranty for
everything. For big bucks, you get a SEVEN year warranty on the sealed
system. Check the price of an extended warranty and figure that into the
price difference.
One is Energy Star compliant and cheaper to operate of the life.
Freezer drawers add to the cost. Door alarm is nice to have.
According to reviews, the cheap one cannot take a 2 liter soda bottle on
the door.
I have no idea of the reliability of LG appliances. Frigidaire is not
what they used to be many years ago. Ever since GM spun them off it has
been a slow decline.
You are getting more for you money, the question though, is it of value
to you? I'd buy it as I like the better quality and finer appointments.
Same with my car. I know I paid too much tot get the Limited version,
but I like the leather seats, climate control, backup camera, etc. All
of this stuff is getting off the value per dollar curve though.
Appliances, cameras, golf clubs, does not matter. For every dollar
above the base you get diminishing returns.
I can get to work in a Bentley or a Yugo, but one is more interesting to
drive.
