I remember being at my grandfather's house sometime in the late
spring, thinning out carrots and my grandparents would use them in a
Spring lamb stew (back in the days when they still called it Spring
lamb). I'd look forward to that every year, because later in the
summer - carrots didn't taste like the first harvested did, no matter
how small they were.
