I think it was about enjoying dissing Sandra Lee more than about the
product. What's funny is how many folks have posted here over the past
several years whose practices are no better than Ms. Lee's. Maybe funny
is the wrong word.

I'm sure that many of you will be happy to know that my infrequency of
posting here is going to continue for a good long while, as I'm engaged
in a creative writing project, a novella that I hope will somehow develop
into a novel. I've shared excerpts with folks I know and trust in the
real world, and have gotten glowing feedback. What I posted on Facebook
was:
"After the breakup of The Bonobos, I felt devastated, not personally, but
artistically. I was depressed, again, not so much as a person, but as an
artist," and that was accurate. For decades, my wife, a librarian, has been
encouraging me to write, and I resisted putting my wordsmithy into fiction.

Then, about two weeks ago, the inhibitions fell away in much the same way as
my band reluctance did, but this time is different because I always knew
that my anger was unsaleable, and my vocal talents would have limited
appeal.
I don't--as Mr. Kuthe would contend--have delusions of grandeur. This is my
new work, and it may well end in failure, but I have to try.

Usenet ****ing rocks, and perhaps I will post here occasionally, but if I do
I will be cheating. I feel wistful writing this, and even apologetic for my
abraisiveness, but my writing is going to a nicer place. I've never been
fond of Winter, but I'll forever be enthralled with what this one has given
me.
