My stove oven came with three racks. I leave only one rack in my
oven, one stands on end out of sight tucked into the space between my
fridge and a wall, the third one is in my basement... I've never used
all three at once, I only occasionally use two. I see no reason to
leave an extra rack in the oven, unused it's only something to burn
your arm, and often the unused rack needs to be removed for something
like a tall roast that one forgets to remove before heating the oven,
then one needs to remove a hot rack, and then where to place it? And
I think it's just silly to store cookwear and such in ones oven,
unless they never use their oven... I strongly suspect that those who
use their oven for storage never use their oven and probaby cook
nothing unless it's something to heat in the nuker... some people
actually store stuff in their microwave oven.
