Several months ago, I was working in a house that had a minor rat problem.
And this was a nice house in a nice neighborhood, not some slum area.

Anyway, they occasionally got rats so they set a trap in the furnace room
where they thought they were getting in. One afternoon, I was in the furnace
room and there was a young rat. Probably a teenager, not full grown. It was
so furry and cute....like someone's pet. It ignored me and started walking
towards the rat snap-trap. As it was so cute, I couldn't stand to see it
get killed so I took a stick and set off the trap myself. And the rat didn't
scurry away, he just looked at me and continued on walking around the room.
