It's learned over a lifetime, no rush, just keep making the effort. You got
a leg up, you're interested in learning and you can read and learn. That'll
speed things up considerably.
That long learning curve shouldnt scare ya, how often do you BBQ? Now if you
translated that to baseball, you wouldnt even be able to catch a ball yet.
So fire tending is easier than learning to play baseball with some semblance
of skill. That said, I bet you'll be happy with your efforts by the end of
this or next summer and you'll have yourself a lifeskill that will pay you
back manyfold.
You'll learn a lot of fire skills grilling too. So dont gas that steak, fire
up some coals and let osmosis do it's job.
