Rather than "worse," the funniest for me was the one time I gave my
rhesus-macac(sp) monkey mashed potatoes to eat. This little critter was
given all sorts of fruit and vegetables regularly, so one time, not
finding anything in the refrigerator "different" enough to both
entertain and feed him, I gave him some left over mashed potatoes. He
spent most of his awake time outside in our mini-orchard, tied to a
badminton court pole by a long, light weight chain. He could thereby
climb to the pole top in protection from curious neighbor dogs, etc.,
and he could also pick his own peaches and apricots. There was also a
tall-posted garden faucet he could easily reach that we left to run just
a tad so that he always had fresh water. He would always take anything
he was to eat over to the faucet, climbing atop it's pole to wash foods
before eating. He would always wash all first, then seemingly gobble as
fast as he could, but what he was actually doing was filling his mouth's
"storage" pouches so that *his* food could not be endangered by imagined
thievery. Just imagine this wee monkey trying to wash globs of the
mashed potatoes held in those tiny hands, only to have them more or less
wash away. He had a very quick temper and could screech loud enough so
that my mother was alarmed on the one and only time of mashed potato
washing. She had been watching this comedy from the kitchen window, and
after she was in control of her laughter, she came outside with a
handful of grapes with which to calm Jerry, forbidding me to ever again
give him 'taters.
