Most any senior center has a few nerds that regularly teach computer
classes, from beginner to advanced. The fees are very modest, like
ten classes over ten weeks for $30. Public libraries the same. And
of course local high schools... todays teens know more than the old
farts.
Most teens have never *heard* of usenet/newsgroups, unless perhaps mommy or
daddy have access. Hell, some alleged IT people have never heard of them,
either. I remember when we got a new guy in IT, he was (at the very least)
in his forties. He maintained the mail servers. The option to d/l
subscribe to newsgroups was turned off (IIRC we were all using Outlook, not
OE, but there was the button for ng's. It was disabled. I mentioned to him
I'd like to be able to read newsgroups on my lunch hour. He gave me a blank
look. "Newsgroups?". Yes, newsgroups. He had no idea what I was talking
about.
