They could blow up if you don't pierce them. My mom always wrapped hers in
foil. I actually prefer them not to be in foil. The skin gets a better
texture. Because my mom wrapped them in foil she never pierced. I guess
the theory there was that if they did blow up they would be contained. She
never had one blow up.
My friend's mom did not put hers in foil. I was helping in the kitchen and
she freaked when I didn't pierce them. She said she once had one blow up
because she didn't pierce it.
