Made these rich chocolate brownies today for friends visiting from OK.,
and they flipped over them, so thought I would share them in this group.
There have been threads on Brownies before, but these are unique and
worthy of a test-try from your kitchen!
Rich Chocolate Brownies
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup baking cocoa
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
Frosting:
3 tbsp. butter, melted
3 tbsp. baking cocoa
2 tbsp. hot water (from tap)
1 tsp. instant coffee granules
1-1/2 cups powdered sugar
In mixing bowl, beat sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add butter and mix well.
Add flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt and mix in well. Pour into a
greased 8" square pan. Bake at 350º for about 25 minutes, until
toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs on it.
Cool in pan on wire rack. Frost when cool. Let frosting set and cut into
16 bars.
For frosting, add hot water to melted butter and stir in instant coffee
to dissolve. Combine cocoa and powdered sugar in small mixing bowl until
smooth. Add coffee mixture and mix till spreading consistency.
NOTE: I doubled this recipe to make two pans, and sure glad I did, as
they are going fast!

Sounds good. I like to use Medaglia D' Oro instant espresso granules rather
than just instant coffee granules to really pop the chocolate flavor in
recipes.
