Thanks for your reply,Steve.Have you had any experience with long term storage using second hand botlles and seals?I have some rather good reds I have made and I am not sure whether to leave the wine tightly stoppered in 5L demijohns or transfer it to second hand wine bottles for a couple of years storage.The way I see it is that corks are not that air tight and isnt the idea of keeping wine in bottles for a couple of years to age slowly by letting some air in though the cork.I am not sure that I understand the bottling process for long term maturation.
