Oak chips like oak barrels can be reused, however, they will have lost a
good deal of their impact (oakiness). Being very frugal I do reuse
mine, but always add fresh chips with them or use them in a wine where a
lighter addition of oak is wanted. If you use them immediately
there is no need to sanitize them, only rinse with cool water. If you
need to store, they should be air dried and stored in a clean container
until needed and then rinsed with a weak sulphite solution.
